The FCG 10-Point Grading Standard
LEVELS
- 10 – Gem Mint: Virtually flawless. Perfect or near perfect centering, sharp corners, clean edges, and surfaces.
- 9 – Mint: Near perfect. One or two tiny flaws (slight edge nick, tiny print mark) Strong eye appeal and 60/40 or better centering.
- 8 – Near Mint: Fantastic condition with a few minor flaws (light edge wear, tiny surface marks) that don’t heavily hurt appeal. Front centering 70/30 or better.
- 7 – Excellent: Well-preserved but clearly handled. Multiple small flaws visible, no bends, rips, tears, or stains.
- 6 – Great: Shows regular play but still attractive. Noticeable wear, scratches, or edge wear, rips, tears, or stains.
- 5 – Good: Heavier wear, scratches, edge nicks, smudges, and dents, no creases or tears. Often used in decks.
- 4 – Fair: Substantial play with several visible flaws, including dents and minor creases, but no rips or missing pieces.
- 3 – Played: Heavy wear and damage, including bends, creases, and deep scratches, but card is still complete.
- 2 – Heavily Played: Severe damage and heavy wear across the card, but structure is mostly intact.
- 1 – Poor: Extreme damage, heavy creasing, tears, and major flaws. Card is heavily worn but still authenticated.
